What is al anad?

Al-Anad Air Base is a military air base located in the Lahij Governorate in southern Yemen. It was originally established by the British in 1963, before being taken over by the Yemeni Air Force in 1967. The air base was expanded by the United States during the 1980s, to serve as a key base of operations during the Gulf War. It has since been used for various military operations, including drone strikes and counter-terrorism efforts. In March 2015, the base was captured by Houthi rebels during the Yemeni Civil War. However, it was later recaptured by government forces in 2016.
